A record you don’t want to remember…

On March 3, game day 7, a historic moment for the ISHF TOP LEAGUE tournament happened – a smashing victory. The main participants in this action were the teams Uralets and Shest Trolley, who combined to score 11 pucks, which is not a record even for that game day, except that one of the teams scored only once…

The teams approached this match in different positions. The Ural team was in a slump, on that day they lost all their games, and before this match the team from Kachkanar lost to Armeets 5:7, which is also hard to describe as a decent result. But the Uralets had a serious handicap – they occupied second place in the standings and had a slight, albeit advantage over their opponents from below. Shest Trolley, on the contrary, were in the second half of the table, but by this match they were coming up to a 2-1 record, smashing the leader – Ledianye Voiny, as well as their main rivals for the place, at that time – M. Eshelon. Yes, the team lost in the match with the Armeets, but the run was clearly not bad, especially remembering that the team started with 5 defeats in a row.

So, the teams took to the ice. Up until the eighth minute the teams were tied, with the Trolls attacking more, but this was understandable – the team was fresher for this match, but at 7:29 the first goal and then the second came. The first third ended 2-0, and one would have expected Uralets to be able to get back into the game with such a serious attack.
The denouement of the whole match happened in the second third, which ended with the score 5-1, and the total score was as much as 7-1. Yes, there’s no denying that the Trolls had an extra player – a puck that relentlessly flew and flew into the Uralets goal, only increasing the gap in the score, but it certainly can’t be denied that in this game, and several games before, the recent champion and contender suddenly gets 5 in a third, answering only once.
In the final third the intrigue was already dead and the Trolls scored 3 control pucks, bringing the score to a blowout.
