With the end of the year fast approaching, the first game week of the ISHF TOP LEAGUE. CHRISTMAS CUP 2022 tournament is also drawing to its logical conclusion.
According to the first week of the tournament, the Moskovskiy Eshelon and the Chetyre Ledokola have obviously drawn some conclusions for themselves after their performances in the spring/summer tournaments of the season 2021, and in the festive tournament they are performing at their best, holding leading positions.
They are followed by the other upstarts from Moscow – the Molotoboytsy, who have clearly got their sights set on taking some glory from the table leaders, having similarly improved their game from the previous tournaments, when the team were hanging at the bottom of the table and not making it to the play-offs.
The Armeets and Uralets surprise, but with a minus sign. Once leaders in every ISHF tournament, regular play-off participants, finalists and even winners, they’re now forced to sit in the bottom half of the table. It will be very interesting to see whether the teams will change their approach in preparing for games in the new year, or whether the former victories will remain in the outgoing one.
The tournament debutant, Shest’ Trolley, has lived up to its name so far, sitting in last place in the table with no apparent chance, at the time of writing, of any tournament success.
With 8 match days and play-offs remaining in the ISHF TOP LEAGUE. CHRISTMAS CUP 2022 it is hoped that the teams will put up a decent fight for a place in the knock-out games, as it currently seems that the Christmas Cup will not include one of the leaders of 2021, or a team that made a significant improvement on its previous edition.
