On the evening half of the tenth matchday of the ISHF LIGA PRO ELECTROSTAL OPEN 2021, the Crystal matches were attractive for the spectators – everyone was curious to see if anyone would be able to put up a fight and beat the leader.
Yes, the team from Electrostal had a difficult time in the evening games, several times the team had to pull ahead, but the team successfully got the only result they needed – a win. The result of the day was 3 wins, 9 full points gap from the nearest pursuer and 62 points in 24 games.
It was also a successful evening for the Ledianye Voiny, who took their maximum points by beating their neighbours at the bottom of the standings. The team was carried on their shoulders like titans by Viktor Kornyakov and Sergei Chistyakov. Those 2 key players have to pull the team out of the second half of the standings, or at least make the playoffs, which is where they are now.
The Chetyre Ledokola continues to drift amongst the other teams, occasionally beating teams like Ferrum. The mystery of this team is similar to the Molotoboytsy – the team has a collection of experienced players, but no results. It’s clear that there are only 8 places in the playoffs, and they can’t all get there, but I would like to see the Icebreakers play more confidently. Just one win over perennial rival Ferrum is clearly not the result the players expect from themselves.
Ferrum… And that says it all. 2 wins in 10 games, 3 wins in 24 games. The winning percentage after one quarter of the tournament is 12.5. That’s not to say that the team from Latvia can’t do anything – this evening they forced Crystal to pull off a big win, but we can definitely say that the team themselves are handing victories to their opponents on a platter, failing to impose and defend the necessary score in two of the three games.
The results of the evening half of the tenth matchday of the ISHF LIGA PRO ELECTROSTAL OPEN 2021:
Crystal – Chetyre Ledokola 7-6
Ferrum – Ledianye Voiny 3-6
Ledianye Voiny – Chetyre Ledokola 9-4
Ferrum – Crystal 5:8
Crystal – Ledianye Voiny 6-2
Chetyre Ledokola – Ferrum 5-4
Two Belarusian teams return for the 11th game of the day, facing a serious battle with Armeets and Uralets for the top 3 of the standings. Both teams will face Armeets in the morning, as well as face-to-face confrontation to find out who is stronger. Before the weekend, the answer to that question was simple – Belsk, who managed to pull off several wins in a row over Kuznya, was the favourite, but now the outcome is unpredictable. Crystal, unlike their opponents, have better luck with the schedule: In the second half, the team from Electrostal will try to put up a fight against the Uralets, the Ledianye Voiny and the Molotoboytsy.
